A letter from our Development Chair and Parent, Sonia Schnitzer:
This is a letter of gratitude.
Our journey to Hillside didn’t start with gratitude. It started with temper tantrums over homework, crying before school, anxiety and feelings of failure, for our son and us, as parents. Yet, as I sit now, starting our 3rd year at Hillside, gratitude is exactly what I feel.
I would like to say “Thank You.”
Thank you Kathy Sherman. You steward the school and the children, and the parents for that matter, with a level of knowledge, care, and attention that leaves me in awe.
Thank you Hillside teachers. You take children who feel defeated at school, and somehow manage to foster confidence and learning with patience and humor.
Thank you Hillside parents. You openly share your thoughts and experiences. We are lucky to be a part of a strong community compelled to bring out the best in the kids.
Thank you students of Hillside. You have taken past failures and turned them into successes. You support one another and make school a safe and fun environment.
In August and September alone, Hillside has received over 40 appeals from parents, desperate (as I remember being) to get their child enrolled into our school. Imagine: knowing the problem, seeing the solution, but not having access to it. We are the lucky ones.
Since gratitude also compels a readiness to return the kindness received, our family donates time and money to Hillside. I encourage you to do the same, in a way that is meaningful to you.
You will soon begin to receive details on tax-deductible contributions to Hillside for Colorado Gives Day and later in the year the Hillside auction event. Any donation, big or small, is received with appreciation.
Thank you, in advance for your support.
Donations can be made directly to Hillside School using our PayPal account.
