Lisa has worked with children for over twenty years, starting as a classroom teacher both in traditional settings and in a magnet school for gifted and talented. She shifted gears after having her own three daughters, and focused on struggling readers and reading intervention. After working several years in a school setting, she then worked privately during the last five years.
Lisa completed the Masters Literacy program at CU Boulder, is state certified as a Literacy Specialist, and has trained in Lindamood Bell. She also has a Masters Degree in Elementary Education and a B.A in Economics and Business. Lisa loves math as much as reading!
Lisa was born and raised just outside of Philadelphia. She moved to Colorado in 1993. Although she misses the ocean, she loves the mountains, hiking, skiing, and the beauty of Colorado. And, she gets to the beach whenever she can. She and her youngest daughter just recently became open water dive buddies.
Lisa is very excited to join the Hillside team.
“The first qualities I notice when I meet a new student are not their weaknesses, but rather the gifts and strengths they bring to the world. That is our starting point. I may know exactly what to teach a child — but it is equally essential that the child know how much I care and that I see him or her as a whole person with many gifts and much potential to shine.”
