ASSESSMENT –

ASSESSMENT –

Hillside School Assessments help to gain understanding and clarity regarding a child’s cognitive and processing skills specifically related to academics. The goal is to better understand what the child experiences in a school or learning situation in order to determine the most effective teaching and learning strategies as well as accommodations. Our team has extensive experience in teaching/learning as well as in assessment which provides a unique perspective in understanding a child’s learning profile and how it impacts classroom success. Among other areas dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia can be determined.

Anywhere from one to four testing sessions are needed, with each session ranging approximately from 1-1.5 hours. If more than one session is needed, they are typically spaced out with the exception of the dyslexia evaluation which can possibly be done in one session (depends on the individual). Payment for the evaluation is due at the last scheduled evaluation session by check or via online payment.

All evaluations include:

  • Parent questionnaire and/or interview
  • Individual assessment time, typically 1- 4 hours depending on assessment battery and student age
  • A written report explaining the findings and recommendations for appropriate learning strategies to increase academic success
  • An in-person meeting between parents and evaluator to review findings
