Hillside School is excited to offer our summer program this year! Our 3-week summer session is a fun way for students to keep their skills sharp while connecting with other students in an enjoyable and supportive academic environment.
Our summer program will begin Monday, June 7th, and continue through Friday, June 25th. Elementary students (those entering first through fifth grade in Fall 2021) will attend our morning session from 8:30-11:30. Middle School students (those entering sixth through ninth grade in Fall 2021) will attend our afternoon session from 12:00-3:00. Acceptance into our program will be based on the order the applications are received and with specific consideration to create appropriate groupings of students.
Elementary classes consist of four students and one teacher with a focus on reading, writing, and math. Teachers create a theme that is woven throughout the academic subjects and based on the interests of the group. Systematic, academic work will focus on skills maintenance and is individualized to best suit each student’s needs and the class as a whole.
Middle School modules will have a maximum of six students with one teacher. The Middle School student may select one, but not more than two, of our four module offerings. Hillside is planning to offer modules in the following subjects:
Reading, with an emphasis on comprehension and retention through effective note-taking strategies and assistive technology.
Advanced decoding skills, focusing on attacking multi-syllable words, exploring morphology, and reading fluency.
Writing, learning the methods of organizing and creating an expository essay.
Math, focusing on number sense and fluency skill to strengthen the mathematical base for higher-level math concepts
Registration for our Summer Program will open on February 16 at 8:00am. A registration link will be added to this page at that time.
Elementary Program Tuition: $1800
Assessment Fee: $75*
*Elementary students who are not currently enrolled in Hillside’s school year program will be scheduled for a short assessment in the Spring in order to determine class placement.
